The glass repair industry first began to gather momentum in the early 1970s, when Novus, Inc. licensed one of the first systems that was capable of optically matching glass.

GW_30-Logo-Effect-Web.jpgHap Alexander, a Novus licensee, was trained early on in the new art of glass repair. He saw ways to improve the methods and equipment, and developed proprietary products to advance glass repair quality. He began performing glass repairs with his new system in 1978. In 1982, he founded a glass repair company - GlasWeld, which quickly became an industry leader through its extensive research and development in the field of glass repair and glass protection.

In 1986, the GlasWeld glass repair company developed the industry's first tinted windshield repair resin for auto glass repair. Tinted resins allowed windshield repair technicians to have better results when repairing certain types of damage. For example, GlasWeld's gray tinted resin was developed for repairing star breaks, because its color hides the reflectivity of this kind of break.

Over the years, the GlasWeld glass repair company has continually worked to develop the very best equipment available on the market. In 2010, GlasWeld introduced its latest innovation in windshield repair, the ecoVac™ Windshield Repair Kit. The ecoVac is a hard-coat anodized aluminum injector utilizing our patented ProVac™ technology giving technicians excellent results at an economical price point. In 2008, the G3fusion™ Auto Glass Repair System. In 2002, the company patented the ProVac™ 2000, a technologically advanced resin injector that improved repair accuracy, control and speed. The ProCur™ windshield repair curing lamp was patented in 2004. This unique lamp provides a 360° radial cure pattern on the injected resin, which results in stronger, better-looking repairs and a faster repair time.

In 2003, the GlasWeld glass repair company expanded its offering in glass repair by developing a system that removed scratches on glass surfaces. GlasWeld's Gforce™ Glass Scratch Removal Kit removes even deep scratches from nearly all types of glass. Through independent testing, the Gforce Scratch Removal Kit was proven to remove scratches with no distortion.

In 2010, GlasWeld released its Gforce2™ Glass Scratch Removal Kit with a center water-feed for pinpoint accuracy, improved ergonomics, and more content than ever. The company also introduced Gforce Glass Anti-Graffiti Kit module and a Gforce Glass Abrading Kit module. Both kits are add-on modules designed to work with the Gforce polishing machine to remove even the most extreme glass damage.

In 2011, GlasWeld introduced its first product line for the polycarbonate repair market, Gclear™ Headlight Restoration Kits. The Gclear Headlight Restoration process features an OEM UV Coating and UV Curing Light to provide a long lasting, durable finish comparable to what comes from the original factory.

Over the course of more than a quarter of a century, the GlasWeld glass repair company has recognized the need for a comprehensive approach to windshield repair and glass scratch removal. This need has been, and continues to be addressed through the development of equipment that meets or exceeds all industry recommended and required specifications. Finally, the GlasWeld glass repair company has assembled a comprehensive glass repair training program that is unequaled anywhere.

From its three areas of expertise… equipment, materials, and training, GlasWeld is an international leader in the glass repair industry. Today, the GlasWeld glass repair company has representation in more than 50 countries around the world, and boasts some of the glass industry's top names on its client list.
